Hi, my name is Debra Dean. I wear different hats at Hope, helping wherever I can. Officially, I am the Office Manager/Bookkeeper/Food Pantry Supervisor.
I have four siblings. We were raised on a cattle ranch in the Cascade Mountains of Southern Oregon near Medford. In 1977, during the construction of the Alaska Pipeline, I moved to Fairbanks. I fell in love with Alaska and its people, married and stayed for seventeen years raising a family.
After moving back to the Lower 48, I settled again in Oregon. While in Bend, I owned and operated a restaurant for five years. Living in Eugene, I worked for a costume designer, building costumes for local performing arts companies and working backstage at the theaters during performances.
When my oldest daughter and her family were transferred to Boise in 2010, I decided it was time for a new adventure and moved to Idaho too. A year later I purchased a place in Eagle. We enjoy raising an organic vegetable garden and have berries, fruit trees and also chickens for fresh eggs. Every year I freeze, can, pickle, and dry as much food as possible.
My younger daughter and her husband live in Corpus Christi, Texas. They just had their first baby, a healthy little boy. So now I am a proud grandmother of three grandchildren.
I love the outdoors, swimming, reading, traveling, history, art, theatre and music. And I am especially blessed to have a job that I enjoy, working with great people sharing God’s love.
I have been a member of Hope Lutheran Church for 15 years. My hometown is Chinook, Montana and after marrying Randy in 1985, have lived in Clarkston, WA, Great Fall, MT (where both our son, Todd and daughter, Tia were born), O’Neil, NE, Cheyenne, WY., and finally Star, ID where we have lived since 1997 and I refuse to budge. I have 10 years of banking experience and 5+ years in office administration, accounting and bookkeeping. I have also been a high school and elementary school lunch lady and worked from home as a medical transcriptionist. During the years of 2004through 2009 we were a foster family and were blessed with long-term placements, one of whom, Lexie, is still actively involved as a member of our family. Randy is a career banker currently working in Jerome, Idaho. Todd is an ordained Christian Pastor and happily married to his wife Britney. They reside in Sherwood, OR. Tia lives in the area and is a hair stylist and studying body training and nutrition. My faith in a loving, forgiving God has been the stabilizing factor during all the years of change and ups and downs. I love my job in Hope’s office and all the relational interactions I have everyday with my Hope Family.
Hope Lutheran Preschool Director, Renee Stinar
I have been a member of Hope Lutheran Church for over 16 years and Director of the preschool for 8 years. I feel really blessed to be a part of this preschool. I received my BA from San Francisco State University with my core courses in early childhood development. While attending college I began working as a teacher’s aide, working my way to director. After moving to Idaho I took a coordinator’s position with the Boise Family YMCA – coordinating local school-age and preschool programs. I want this preschool to work in partnership with you to nurture your child’s development and make this an enriching experience for your whole family.
My husband Jason and I have been married for 18 years and Jason is a fireman with the Boise Fire Department. We have lived in Eagle Idaho for over 18 years and have 3 wonderful children ages 10, 11, and 14.
Pastor Mike Sager was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Portland State University with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting. He worked for a major accounting firm in Portland, where he earned his CPA certificate and then worked for a large cellular company in Seattle. It was during this time in Seattle that Mike received his call to public ministry. He spent one year at the Lutheran Bible Institute, where he began his journey in the scriptures and then went on to Wartburg Seminary, where he earned his Masters in Divinity. Pastor Mike has served three congregations, all of them in Eastern Washington and Idaho. He believes that our faith in Jesus and His love for us should impact all areas of our lives and is a journey not a destination. He enjoys the outdoors, tennis and golf, reading, and spending time with his wife and two sons.
